Christmas is dead...!!!

Is it just me or is Christmas just not the same....I mean i cant even remember the last time that i celebrated Christmas. All I remember are my childhood days back home (Ghana) when my I looked forward to comming home from Church on Christmas day to help my mum make Lunch, which consisted of A Special pot of Jollof Rice, Fried Rice, grilled Chicken/fsh, Kelewele, Potato chips, a variety of Salads and after feasting aon all that, we had fan ice cream with my aunties special Christmas cake.....Awww the good old days.
I attended our work christmas do yesterday and I can you believe that it was there for only 30mins..it was just soo dry and I guess it was also because omost of my team members have already travelled abroad for the holidays.Wwhats going on?Is it just me or is Christmas really dead as my friend described it.
I feel that Christmas loses it hype as we grow older and older and what kills it even quicker is if your not fortunate enough to go back home for the holidays. Christmas in has become soo comercialised that it has lost its true meaning. It seems to be all about sending loads of money buying presents which people end up not using anyway......
What even kills it for me is that is that MR. and I are spending christmas apart this year as he is off to Lagos as I write and I am stuck here in this stupid cold ass country because I have a lot of revision to do for my exams in January and I also have my dissertation to work on. So I am on my Jack jones this Christmas and ooh dont even think about me spending time with my family cus I dunno haow to play happy families with people who dont give a toss about you. I beggg ooohh I will just burry my head in my books and haung out with the girls if I get bored.
But honestly is it just me and is it fair to say that Christmas is DEAD or rather that I my Christmas spirit is DEAD?!!
I'm so going to miss my man any suggestions of things that I can do to survive holidays without my Sweetie : (

Im ssoo homesick here a few of the things that I miss the most :

1) Hot & Sunny Weather

2)The Beach (Sand, Sea breeze, Palm Trees...)

3) My favourite Ice Cream

4)Home made Kenkey

5) Boufrot(Puff - Puff)

Anyway ...What are you guys up to for the holidays.....?! Im off for a refill of my Tia Maria and Coke.......IM SOOO BORED !!!
In the mean time......Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas People..................xx x x

Awww Sweetie. I agree that Christmas has become too commercial. It's supposed to be about Jesus, but now it's all about spending money and more money that you don't even have. I sadly now understand why ppl commit suicide this time of year. Okay, I digress.

He'll be back soon. Just look forward to spending the new year together as well as the rest of your lives!!!!

SMOOCHES!!!!!!!!!!

Xmas is not dead
It's just not the same when you're not home.
I wish I could go to 9ja for xmas
It's more fun over there
but I'm here and I'm thankful...my immediate family/cousins are here
but i do miss 9ja still

I wish you a joyous xmas
take it easy with the books
I might even steal your books just for the holidays...Jesus is the reason for the season..I say u shud be happy for the birth of our lord at least... GOd bless

Pele dear.

Christmas is all about what you make of it! Cook yourself a feast, borrow a bunch of movies and have your girlfriends over. :-)

Your honey will be back sooner than you think! Hang in there

Have a great Christmas and prosperous new year!

Oh my gosh - I did not know you were from Ghana and hubby is from Nigeria ...Yeahhhhh.. (don't mind me jo)....

Anyways...

christmas had definitely become more commercialized...definitely...

I think the true meanings and feelings behind christmas has disappeared...

You get to decide your experience of Christmas. Ignore the commercialism of Christmas. That odes not have to be your experience. You can have the Christmas you want to experience. Create new memories and rituals. It is the spirit and the feeling of the season. Peace on earth good will toward everyone! Use this time to kick start new projects, learn a new thing, or simply be leisurely.

Happy Holidays! Home is in your heart.

Christmas is dead....!!! How brilliantly disserted.
Presents, yeah, 'cos too often we believe to have sent 'good' money equals great presents; how so wrong. Eventually, we all realise (hopefully not too late) that the greatest gifts (presents) are those things which cost no money, those little things we often take for granted.
Be that as it may, 'tis a season you can't wish away.
Have a very pleasant christmas.

my little ghanerian....hope you made the best of the holiday season...christmas is surely not what it used to be...but it can be...i think it depends on the people/family...was dreaming of kelewele while in naija and wondering why we (nigerians) hadn't been brilliant enough to think of it:0...i swear i kept smelling frying kelewele on the streets...it was a cruel joke!!!...kisses love and happy new year!!!....
